NORFOLK - The Northeast Hawks came into Saturday on a 25-game losing skid, but none of it mattered with a doubleheader sweep of the Hawkeye Redtails on Saturday afternoon.

The Hawks won the first game of the series 12-6 and the second game 11-10.

Both the Redtails and Hawks set off fireworks in game two, with the Redtails striking first with three first inning runs.

The Hawks came back with an RBI single, followed by a three-run home run via Malika Monroe to give the Hawks a 4-3 lead early.

Northeast ended up stretching the lead to as many as six runs, leading 10-4.

Hawkeye CC has a big 6th inning, scoring four runs to cut the deficit to just a pair of runs.

In the top of the 7th inning, Caydance Sharp smashed a two-run bomb dead center to tie the game.

In the bottom of the 7th, Grace Sievers started the inning with a double, followed by taking third base on a ground out.

However, the throw was over the head of the third baseman, allowing Sievers to dash home and give the Hawks the win.

The two Northeast wins on Saturday improves the Hawks record to 5-36.
