Nebraska lottery distributes over $1 billion
LINCOLN - The Nebraska Lottery and Charitable Gaming Division reports over a billion dollars provided to beneficiaries since its inception in 1993.
The state Constitution says lottery proceeds are distributed to education, 44.5 percent; Nebraska State Fair, 10 percent; and compulsive gambling assistance, 1 percent.
The Nebraska Environmental Trust will consider eligibility requirements for the 2025 grant cycle at its January meeting.
Providing grant eligibility testimony were Nebraska Children and Families, City of Lincoln’s StarTran, Village of Utica and Firststar Fiber.
The grant committee deadline was Sept. 3 and its determined that 57 of 66 applications were eligible.
Nebraska Lottery says about 25 cents of every dollar wagered goes back to the state.
At its Jan. 9 meeting the Nebraska Environmental Trust Board will hold a public hearing on the 2025 grant cycle.
