Ta-Ha-Zouka park looks to expand their sports facility

Norfolk is moving forward with plans to expand Ta-Ha-Zouka Parks facility.
The City Council held a public hearing and approved a consideration to purchase and lease property for $200,000.
In December of 2020, the city of Norfolk entered into a purchase agreement for two parcels owned by Delbert and Joyce Scheffler in which the first parcel was acquired by the city.
The purchase agreement also allowed the city to take ownership of the remaining six acre parcel on the Northern edge of Ta Ha Zoila Park. In the attached purchase agreement is a lease agreement that allows Joyce Scheffler to lease the Eastern portion of the parcel (approximately 1.5 acres) which contain the primary residence, garage, and shed up until but not to exceed, December 31, 2030 while also allowing the city to move forward with construction of potential ball fields and various improvements on the Western 4.5 acres.
City officials say the expansion follows an ongoing master plan from 20-22 to continue improving the park as they have already began plans for a four-field complex to the north of the existing park.
