LINCOLN, Neb. -- Authorities responded to a multi-vehicle accident Wednesday night in Lincoln.

The Lincoln Police Department said that they were dispatched to 16th and O Street for the multi-vehicle accident.

Officers said that while they were responding, the witnesses reported one of the drivers, a 27-year-old Lincoln man, fleeing the crash on foot.

LPD said after arriving, officers found the suspect in a parking lot on the south side of O St. between 16th and 17th.

Authorities said that the investigation showed the suspect was heading east on O St. when his vehicle hit the curb on the south side of the street, causing him to lose control and strike the side of another eastbound vehicle.

After hitting the first vehicle, police said that suspect's vehicle then hit four parked vehicles that were along the south curb.

When officers spoke with the suspect, they said he showed signs of impairment and became uncooperative.

The suspect was arrested for first-offense DUI. He was cited and released for refusal of a chemical test, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, criminal mischief and obstruction of a police officer.

LPD said the damage to suspect's vehicle was estimated at $10,000 and the total damage to the other vehicles was estimated at $13,400.
