LSO expanding patrol, including through holiday weekend

LANCASTER COUNTY - The Lancaster County Sheriff's Office is planning on increasing patrol through the holiday weekend, as well as in the days before and after, through the "Click It or Ticket" campaign.
Beginning Wednesday, a high visibility safety checkpoint will be set up on HWY 6, just west of 98th street. Vehicles will be selected in a systematic fashion and checked for proper documentation and assurance that all occupants are wearing seat belts. The checkpoint is set for 3:00 pm-8:00 pm, while deputies will continue enforcement from 8:00 pm-1:00 am on an individual basis.
Beginning Friday May 26, thru Sunday June 4, LSO will have additional deputies patrolling Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. The additional deputies will be used for saturation patrol to enforce traffic law violations throughout Lancaster County in marked patrol cars from 4:00 pm-10:00 pm.
Overtime for officers on duty will be paid for through a mini-grant funded by the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office.
