Event is scheduled for 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, October 31

SIDNEY -- Now in the 10th year, Trunk or Treat is set for trick-or-treaters to gather sweets in a fun and safe environment in downtown Sidney.

The event was started by former Police Chief B.J. Wilkinson, and the tradition has continued. This year, the Trick or Trunk event starts from the west.

"This year, as of today, we have 54 trunks. We are going to be on 10th Street and we will overflow into both parking lots. It will start on 10th, and we will make a line to the west, and hopefully wrap around and weave in and out of the trunks, " said Kim Phillips, coordinator of the event.

The procession of trick-or-treaters will start from the west onto 10th Avenue, she said.

The event will be an opportunity for fairy tales, spooks and goblins, things fantasy and fictional to come to life for a night of fun.

"We ask no photo booths, no games, no alcohol -- unfortunately I have to put that in there -- it's from 4 to 6 (p.m.) on October 31. We'd love to see kids in costume. In previous years, the office has just went out and picked our favorite and gave them an award for being the most creative," she said.

The theme of each stop is at the discretion of the "trunk."
