Sidney and Greater Area Fund donates $1,500 to Night of Hope Walk for Cancer

Funds to be used for to support local patients
SIDNEY – The Sidney and Greater Area (SAGA) Fund is donating $1,500 to the Night of Hope Walk for Cancer Foundation to provide gas cards for local cancer patients traveling for treatment.
This grant will help ease the financial burden for individuals and families facing the challenges of cancer in Sidney and Cheyenne County.
“This gift from the Sidney and Greater Area Fund is more than just financial support—it’s hope,” said Kim Phillips from the Night of Hope Foundation. “These gas cards will make it easier for cancer patients to travel to and from treatments, which are often out of town and financially overwhelming. We are incredibly grateful for these funds.”
Founded 25 years ago, the Night of Hope Walk for Cancer is a non-profit, volunteer-driven organization dedicated to supporting and uplifting friends and neighbors battling cancer. Each year, the organization hosts its annual Walk the second Friday of August in Sidney’s Legion Park. The event brings the community together to honor, celebrate, and remember those impacted by cancer—all while raising critical funds to provide resources for those in need. The annual Night of Hope Walk will be held on Aug. 8, 2025 in Legion Park.
The SAGA Fund is dedicated to supporting impactful local projects and organizations that improve quality of life in Sidney and the surrounding region. Supporting the Night of Hope aligns with the fund’s mission to uplift the community and provide meaningful assistance where it’s most needed.
“As cancer continues to touch so many lives, it’s essential that we stand together as a community to support those in the fight,” said Melissa Norgard, Chairperson of the Sidney and Greater Area Fund. “We’re honored to contribute to an organization doing amazing in Sidney and the greater area communities.”
The Night of Hope Walk for Cancer Foundation continues to expand its reach beyond Sidney, providing assistance to cancer patients in surrounding communities and supporting cancer research initiatives. Their vision is to create a world where every cancer patient has access to the resources and support they need to overcome the challenges of treatment and recovery.
