BLAIR -- A tragic mistake just before the holidays has cost the life of a young woman in eastern Nebraska, authorities say.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office reported that 28-year-old Shannon Musick, of Lincoln, was driving on County Road 15 on Tuesday morning, when she failed to stop at a stop sign. Her pickup then collided with the rear of a semi-tractor trailer, headed east on Nebraska Highway 91.

Officials took Musick to the Blair Hospital by Blair Rescue, where she eventually succumbed to injuries. The semi-tractor-trailer's driver was not injured though, officials report.

The highway was shut down for about an hour.
