LAS VEGAS, NV -- A former UNO Maverick will be participating in the 2022 NHL All-Star Game this weekend.

Jake Guentzel, an Omaha native, will be representing the Pittsburgh Penguins at this year's festivities along with Penguins goalie Tristan Jarry.

Guentzel currently leads the Penguins in goals (23) and points (46) this season.

He will be a participant in the NHL Accuracy Shooting event tonight.

Guentzel will be one of nine NHL players to take part in the competition where players shoot pucks at targets in a net and try to knock them down in the least amount of time and with the least amount of pucks.

Tomorrow, he will be one of 11 players to represent the Metropolitan Division in the All-Star Game.

Guentzel attended UNO from 2013 to 2016 registering 40 goals and 79 assists in 108 games.
