Nebraska Corrections officer arrested over allegations of sneaking drugs into prison

Investigators believe the state employee was trying to sneak in marijuana and meth at the state penitentiary.

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Investigators believe the state employee was trying to sneak in marijuana and meth at the state penitentiary.

According to court records, investigators allege Edgar Gomez, 34, was carrying a beverage can with a hidden compartment. That’s where they say they found the drugs.

The state patrol alleges he had done it several times in the past. Gomez posted a 10% of a $100,000 bond.

He’s due back in court in late March.
