LINCOLN, Neb. -- In the aftermath of the overturning of Roe v. Wade, Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts took questions on how the state will move forward Friday afternoon.

The media met with Ricketts at a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Lincoln.

Ricketts said he was happy with the Supreme Court's decision and that he will meet with Speaker of the Legislature Mike Hilgers to discuss how Nebraska will respond to the Supreme Court decision.

"We have to work on this and I have to talk to the speaker about what this might look like and what more we can do. So, we're still going to have to plan all this and that's why I'll wait until I get a chance to work with the speaker," Ricketts said.

Two months ago, the Nebraska Legislature voted down a "trigger bill" which would have outlawed abortion in Nebraska.

The Legislature will also be down a senator next week after the special election on Tuesday which will see either state senators Mike Flood or Patty Pansing-Brooks elected to Congress.
