Lancaster County grass fire contained by firefighters
LANCASTER COUNTY, Neb. -- Firefighters responded to a grass fire in Lancaster County Wednesday afternoon.
Several fire agencies responded to the fire on West Saltillo Road and Southwest 114 Street at around 3:10 pm.
50 acres of land were affected by the fire.
Crete Assistant Fire Chief James Yost said the cause of the fire was possibly from a swather cutting hay.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire in two and a half hours.
Authorities remained on the scene for an extra half hour to extinguish lingering hot spots.
