A Senate hearing this past week found the use of one higher blend of ethanol still in limbo going into the summer driving season.

The Biden Administration recently allowed E15 to be sold year-round in Nebraska, Iowa and six other Midwestern states starting in 2024.

E15 is usually prohibited in the summer due to concerns that it adds to smog when temperatures increase.

Senator Pete Ricketts, who wants E15 available this summer, got a so-so answer from one man up for a top job at the EPA.

According to Ricketts, Nebraska’s 24 ethanol plants create 1,400 jobs and add $4.5 billion to the state’s economy.
