Longer term limits, 12 years in office, backed by 40 lawmakers
25 Republicans and 15 Democrats back a change to the Nebraska Constitution

Democrats and Republicans in the Legislature have found at least one controversial item they agree on: Longer term limits.
Right now, lawmakers are limited to two four-year terms.
But there’s a push to make that three four-year terms.
40 lawmakers have signed on to the bill, 25 Republicans and 15 Democrats.
If it passes the Legislature, this change in the state constitution would go to the voters for their approval in 2024.
