There's a new man in charge of business development in Nebraska.

Two months after conflict-of-interest allegations sent Tony Goins packing, K.C. Belitz is the new Director of the Nebraska Department of Economic Development.

Gov. Jim Pillen today announcing that Belitz was one of three finalists interviewed for the job.

While both Pillen and Belitz are from Columbus, Pillen downplayed any suggestion of a hometown bias.

Goins resigned following reports that he steered business to his own Lincoln cigar lounge potentially making money for himself.

Goins has denied any wrongdoing.

Pillen says Belitz will make the same salary Goins was making, a reported $215,000 a year.
