LINCOLN, Neb. -- Several law enforcement agencies are investigating stores in the metro area for selling THC products that have a higher content than allowed by law.

The Sarpy County Sheriff's Office said they have gotten information for several months that some products in three stores, two 'Cannabis Factory' and one 'Fifty Shades of Green,' were more potent than the 0.3% THC content that's allowed by law.

The Sheriff's Office said this resulted in their narcotics unit purchasing several items and sending them to the lab to be tested.

It was reported that some of the products were well above the legal limit, according to officials.

SCSO said they shared this information with other law enforcement agencies and prosecutors.

The stores are located in Gretna, Bellevue, and Papillion.

The Sarpy County Sheriff's Office said they have worked together with Papillion, Bellevue, Omaha, and Lincoln Police Departments, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, the Nebraska State Patrol, and the Sarpy County and Nebraska Attorney General's Office.

Law enforcement said the number one issue is consumer protection.

The customers who are purchasing these products need to know they could be purchasing items that are advertised as containing an amount of THC that is not a dose that will get them "high" or have any effect on their judgement or ability to operate a motor vehicle.

Authorities noted that the legal allowed limit in Nebraska for THC content is under half of 1%.

It was reported that most products tested were above 5% THC and some items tested 15% THC.

Law enforcement said that as a result of the search warrants, several product lines and records were seized.

Prosecutors in several jurisdictions and the Nebraska Attorney General's Office will determine if any charges will be filed.
