SIDNEY -- It is the week of the Fourth of July and many of us want to celebrate.

However, the City of Sidney has regulations on how to celebrate, and when.

The discharging of permissible fireworks during the following periods:

1. The use of fireworks ends 1 a.m. July 5. Permitted fireworks can be discharged only during said period of time of 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. through and including July 3, and between the hours of 8 a.m. on July 4 to 1 a.m. on July 5.
2. Beginning at 5 p.m. on December 31 and ending January 1 at 1 a.m., said eight-hour period allowed each year.
3. Other times as may be designated upon obtaining a special permit to do so, which permit may be issued if approved by the City Manager upon application.

There are five fireworks vendors in Sidney.

City officials ask you to be mindful of your neighbors and area pets.

The City's fireworks display is scheduled for 9 p.m., dusk, July 3 at Deer Run Park. Parking will be available at the east parking lot of Western Nebraska Community College.
