BENNET, Neb. - A Mountain Lion sighting has been confirmed, not far from the Lincoln Metro area.

According to the Lancaster County Sheriff's office, residents of a property one mile east of Bennet, NE., about 20 miles southeast of Lincoln, were awoken at about 3:00 a.m. Sunday by a trail camera notification. They heard what they thought was an owl screeching on the camera.  Upon further review of the footage, a Mountain Lion appears, about 50 yards north of the residence.

Officials inspected the area on footage and found large lion paw prints in the mud. The lion was not located on the property.

Mountain Lions tend to have large ranges, often wandering long distances in search of food or a mate.
