Schall retiring as Glenwood Elementary principal
KEARNEY, Neb. — A school principal in Kearney is set to retire as the future of her school heads toward a school board vote.
Kearney Public Schools announced Wednesday that Glenwood Elementary Principal Tracy Schall will retire at the end of the school year. Schall also serves as director of library services for the district.
“It has been a true privilege to serve the Glenwood Elementary community and the entire Kearney district,” Schall said in a statement. “Watching our students grow, learn, and develop their unique strengths has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I am so grateful for the relationships I’ve built with families, students, and staff over the years.”
Schall has worked for KPS for 24 years and has served as Glenwood principal for six years.
“Tracy’s impact on our schools and students has been profound,” superintendent Jason Mundorf said. “Her commitment to nurturing a love of learning, both at Glenwood and across the district, has enriched countless young lives.”
Schall’s retirement comes as Glenwood prepares for a renovation that will force students to go to Buffalo Hills Elementary next school year. The school board is currently contemplating changing Glenwood into a K-5 alternative school instead of reopening it as a typical elementary school.
