Lady Raiders Rally, Red Raiders Fall to Ogallala
SIDNEY – The Sidney Lady Raiders rallied to extend their win streak to seven games while the Red Raiders’ late rally came up short against Ogallala Friday night at the Cabela’s Athletic Facility. Tied at halftime, the Lady Raiders outscored Ogallala 21-11 in the third period and then turned back a furious fourth quarter rally to beat the Lady Indians 53-48 while the Red Raiders dropped their fourth game in five outings falling to top-ranked Ogallala 68-56.
The Lady Raiders trailed the Indians 13-11 after the first quarter before Ogallala built a six-point, 20-14 midway through the second period. But a Jordynn Schnell three-pointer with 1:14 remaining in the half capped an 8-0 run to put Sidney ahead 22-20. The teams headed into intermission tied at 22-22.
The third period was all Lady Raiders. Trailing 26-25 two minutes into the second half, senior Carli Black hit a three pointer to spark an 19-8 Sidney run. The Lady Raiders took a 43-33 lead into the final period. However, the Indians were not done. Ogallala picked up their defensive intensity and outscored Sidney 10-2 over the first 2:20 of the final stanza to draw within two, 45-43. The Lady Raiders withstood the onslaught and survived 53-48.
With the win Sidney improved to 11-3 while the Indians fell to 8-4. Sidney was led by Ryan Dillehay with 11 points while Carli Black chipped in 10 points. Freshman Shaydyn Rasby paced the Indians with 14 points.

Ogallala, the number one team in the News Channel Nebraska Boys Class C-1 rankings, lived up to their billing Friday night at the Cabela’s Athletic Facility. Indian junior started the scoring with a three pointer 1:26 into the game as Ogallala opened on a 14-4 run. Although Sidney committed only six turnovers and outrebounded the Indians 36-29, the Red Raiders never led in the game.
The Red Raiders refused to surrender even when the Indians built a 17-point, 42-25 advantage early in the third period. Sidney chipped away closing to within six, 56-50 with just over five minutes remaining in the game. However, the Red Raiders never got any closer, falling 68-56.
The loss was the Red Raiders third straight as Sidney falls to 9-4 on the season, The Red Raiders were led by Landon Riddle and Keian Kaiser with 14 points each while Alek Doty added 13 points. Juniors Edan Cain and Sawyer Smith accounted for 54 of the Indians’ 68 points. Smith finished with 28 while Cain poured in 26 points as Ogallala improves to 12-0 on the season.
