Fire damages Victorian Inn Hotel, in north Beatrice
BEATRICE – A fire at a hotel in north Beatrice caused about $5,000 estimated damage Wednesday night.
Beatrice Firefighters were sent to the Victorian Inn Hotel at 1903 North 6th, just before ten p.m.
Fire Captain Jeremy Seggerman says arriving crews observed smoke coming from one room on the first floor of the hotel…caused by a fire in the ceiling of a bathroom. Firefighters pulled down ceiling material and extinguished the flames in less than five minutes.
Smoke detectors alerted occupants of the hotel and there were no injuries to customers or firefighters. Seggerman says the smoke and fire damage was confined to the single room…and guests were able to return to their rooms following the incident.
Beatrice Police also responded to the scene. The cause of the fire was determined to be an electrical malfunction in a bathroom fan. Five firefighters and a fire engine left the scene at around 10:40 p.m.
