Visiting Knights Claim Victory in Nebraska City
NEBRASKA CITY, NE - The visiting Knights of Elmwood-Murdock claimed a doubleheader sweep over the Lourdes Central Catholic Knights on Friday, as heard on B103.
In the opener, the EM ladies hit 6/17 from downtown to help them double-up LCC, 54-27. Lourdes was cold from deep, connecting on just 2/13 from three-point land. The team also hit just half of its free throws, going 9/18 there. Lauren Benedict led the home squad with eight points. Annie Backemeyer had 14 for Elmwood-Murdock, while Brooke Goudie also reach double figures with thirteen. The EM girls are now 11-4, after grabbing a Saturday win over Fillmore Central; while LCC sits at 13-3.
The boys' game saw EM pick up a 53-35 win thanks to a very efficient shooting performance from TWO-point land. The visiting Knights hit 22/36 from inside the curve (61%). The squad did struggle at the FT line, though (3/9). Lourdes was 2/12 from downtown & hit 9/12 at the stripe. LCC was led by Brady Schnitzer's eight points. EM got 14 points from Aidan Schmidt & 13 from Abrahm Jones. The Elmwood-Murdock guys are 8-6 after a Saturday loss to Fillmore Central, while LCC sits at 5-11.
Lourdes Central Catholic will be on B103 again Tuesday when they host Sterling at 6 p.m., while Elmwood-Murdock brings in Freeman Tuesday.
