Artificial intelligence workshop available at Kimball Public Library

KIMBALL -- As artificial intelligence becomes more prevalent, an educator from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is teaching people how they can apply it in their day-to-day activities.
The Rural Prosperity Extension Educator at UNL Jamie Bright is hosting a workshop at the Kimball Public Library May 27 at 5 p.m. to teach people about the basics of AI.
Bright hosted the first AI workshop in April and wanted to put together a second one that is in the evening so more people would have an opportunity to attend.
“I mostly want to help people not feel intimidated about testing it out, so it’s geared toward people who haven't used these tools in the past or those who have used it a little bit and are looking for more tips,” Bright said.
Anyone can benefit from the workshop whether they are learning to use AI technology for business and work purposes or recreationally.
“I talk about how I use it at home to make meal plans but also how I use it at work to help write articles or put together grant applications,” Bright said. “It can save you time when creating things for work or for fun.”
She adds that she has a personal interest in the use of AI technology, and she wants to spread the knowledge so people can use it in ways they may not realize it’s available.
“It can help people create more polished pieces of work or help people create graphics if they aren’t artistically inclined,” Bright said. “It can help people use their strengths and fill in where their weaknesses are.”
Bright suggests attendees bring their smartphone, laptop or tablet to be able to follow along and put the tips into use during the workshop.
