Two injured in all-terrain vehicle accident near Blue Springs

BEATRICE – Law officers and emergency medical personnel were sent to a serious accident Sunday night, near Blue Springs.
Southeast Communications traffic reported it happened just north of Blue Springs on “A” Street, and north of West Cherry Street. The call sending units there came in at 8:40 p.m.
Two medical helicopters were summoned…one from Lincoln to the scene of the accident and the other from Omaha, to the Beatrice Municipal Airport. Beatrice Fire and Rescue ambulance units were also dispatched.
35-year-old Trevor Hurley and 35-year-old Ryan Hurley were riding the ATV northbound on A Street. After passing the intersection with Cherry Street, the machine went out-of-control and rolled into the ditch, ejecting both riders on impact in the ditch and hitting several small trees.
Both riders were treated at the scene by Wymore and Beatrice Rescue units….and then airlifted by helicopter to the University of Nebraska Medical Center with serious injuries.
