OMAHA — Sidney High School athletes made an early impact Wednesday at the NSAA Class B State Track and Field Championships at Burke Stadium, with three Red Raiders advancing to sprint finals and two earning medals.

Junior Lance Holly finished sixth in the Class B 100-meter prelims (10.92 seconds) and sixth in the 400-meter final (49.97). Teammate Landon Riddle, a senior, placed fifth in the 100 (10.91) and is also headed to Thursday’s final. Wyatt Dent, of Central City, had the fastest 100-meter time in the prelims at 10.68.

Sidney junior Keian Kaiser was one of five athletes to clear 6 feet, 4 inches in high jump, including sophomore teammate Kash Knobbe. Kaiser finish runner-up via the tiebreaker. Knobbe placed fifth.

The Red Raiders currently sit in sixth place in the boys team standings with 14.5 points through six events. 

Scottsbluff saw sophomore Danielle Hunter finish sixth in the girls pole vault, clearing 10 feet, 6 inches.

Ogallala senior Story Rasby delivered one of the day’s top Panhandle performances, winning the girls 400-meter dash in a personal-best 56.12 seconds. Her victory netted 10 points and placed Ogallala in a tie for seventh in the girls team standings.

Chadron freshman Addisyn Gruver placed fourth in the girls long jump (17-03.50). She also competed in the 100 and 200 prelims but did not advance. 

The Class B championships conclude Thursday at Burke Stadium in Omaha on News Channel Nebraska TV.
