SCOTTSBLUFF — A 70-year-old woman died following a house fire Sunday morning in Scottsbluff, authorities said.

Scottsbluff Police and Fire personnel responded to a reported structure fire at 405 W. Overland at approximately 8:19 a.m. on May 25. Officers arriving at the scene found visible flames coming from inside the residence and located three occupants near the rear entry door of the home.

Two individuals had visible injuries and were transported to Regional West Medical Center. One of the victims, identified as Sandra Hagen, 70, later died at the hospital. The second occupant remained hospitalized as of Sunday. The third occupant was not reported injured.

Investigators determined the fire was caused by the accidental ignition of a medical oxygen supply. Damage to the home was estimated at $30,000.

The 400 block of W. Overland was closed for approximately 90 minutes while emergency crews worked the scene.

Assisting agencies included the Scottsbluff Fire Department, Regional West Ambulance Services and the Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s Department.
