BENNET, Neb. — A tragic update to a UTV crash that happened in Southeast Nebraska on Monday.

Lancaster County authorities said a 7-year-old boy died after a UTV driven by their 9-year-old sibling overturned.

Chief Deputy Ben Houchin with the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office said the two kids were driving on their property near Bennet, heading to a shed to pick up supplies to build a tree house.

Law enforcement said the 9-year-old brother appeared to have taken a turn too sharply, causing the wreck.

A medical helicopter was dispatched to the scene, but Sheriff's officials said the boy died at the scene. The 9-year-old suffered a broken leg.

Houchin said since the accident happened on private property, no citations were issued.
