Narcan offered for free with new program for Nebraska residents
A new program is offering free Narcan Nasal Spray kits to Nebraska residents in an effort to curb the number of overdose deaths in the state.

OMAHA, Neb. -- A new program is offering free Narcan Nasal Spray kits to Nebraska residents in an effort to curb the number of overdose deaths in the state.
Narcan is a medication that can reverse an opioid overdose. Medical experts say it should be carried by anyone at risk of an overdose and by those who know someone at risk.
Now, thanks to a joint effort by the Department of Health and Human Services, the Nebraska Pharmacists Association and Behavioral Health Region Systems; anyone who is a Nebraska resident can get the medicine for free, without a prescription, at one of 44 pharmacies currently participating in the state.
Authorities said if you believe someone is overdosing, you should call 911 and administer Narcan.
