More fall-out from a controversial last-minute ad in the GOP race for governor.

As News Channel Nebraska first reported, the ad paid for by Conservative Nebraska, rips Charles Herbster as the “King of the beauty pageant circuit” and asks if his role as a judge with “countless young women and teen-age girls” was “Unusual, bizarre, or inappropriate.”

One of those contestants pictured in the ad with Herbster, Erin Shae Swanson, tells News Channel Nebraska, the ad is “untrue” and “upsetting” adding  Herbster has been “nothing but genuinely nice” and has done "nothing inappropriate to me or others."

Erin’s mom tells NCN her daughter’s image should be removed from the ad immediately.

In addition to Erin’s pro-Herbster comments the Herbster campaign has released a statement attributed to Sarah Rose Summers, Miss USA 2018, who says the ad “smears” Herbster, who is a friend of hers and has long supported her and her husband.

On Monday, Gov. Pete Ricketts who is backing NU Regent Jim Pillen, told NCN he agreed with the ad and finds Herbster’s role in beauty pageants “weird.”

Team Herbster has called the ad a lie.

NCN has been unable to reach Conservative Nebraska for comment.

The 30-second commercial follows accusations that Herbster groped eight women, two who have come out publicly including State Sen. Julie Slama.

Herbster has repeatedly denied the accusations insisting he’s being targeted by the political establishment led by Ricketts and Pillen.

Ricketts says, "I believe Julie Slama." He also says Herbster should get “help” and drop out of the race.
