PAPILLION, Neb. -- A Papillion man received an eight year sentence in prison for child pornography.

Acting U.S. Attorney Steven Russell said 44-year-old Ramzi Yassine, of Papillion, was sentenced Tuesday for receipt of child pornography. Yassine will 96 months in prison and will have a five-year term of supervised release after his initial sentence. There is no parole in the federal system. He was also ordered to pay $15,000 in restitution and will be required to register as a sex offender.

According to court documents, Nebraska State Patrol received a cyber-tip from a website known as Chatstep on May 1, 2017. Chatstep reported that one of its users had an account that uploaded an image identified as child pornography.

Officials said Chatstep saved the Internet Protocol (IP) address of the identified user that had uploaded the image of child pornography. Law enforcement got the information related to the IP addresses, which ultimately identified Yassine’s residence as the subscriber.

Authorities said law enforcement searched Yassine’s residence and took the computers on Oct. 4, 2018. Forensic analysis of the computers found images of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct. Some of the minors were under the age of 12.

This case was investigated by NSP.
