LINCOLN, Neb. -- A man with multiple warrants was arrested after reportedly assaulting an officer in Lincoln.

The Lincoln Police Department said officers made a perimeter around a home in the 1900 block of Sumner St. around 1:50 a.m. on Monday. Officers were reportedly looking for 28-year-old Nathan Shepard because he had multiple active warrants out for him.

Officers said Shephard went out a first-story window and tried to flee the area on foot. Two officers found Shepard and he reportedly tackled one of the officers to the ground, causing pain to the officer's neck, head, and hand.

According to authorities, Shepard escaped the second officers hold and continued to run but was eventually taken into custody by other nearby officers.

LPD said Shepard was taken to jail and cited for third-degree assault on an officer, resisting arrest second offense, and obstructing a police officer. Shepard was also reportedly wanted for a previous misdemeanor assault investigation, a previous flee to avoid arrest investigation, and an active misdemeanor warrant.
