CHADRON, Neb. -- After dealing with winter weather all week, the northern Panhandle had its first road closure Tuesday night.

Northbound Highway 385 was closed from Highway 20 up to the Nebraska-South Dakota border. The road was initially deemed impassable Tuesday night before being closed outright. The road reopened Wednesday.

Further north into South Dakota, Interstate 90 was closed in both directions on Tuesday.

This comes as the most recent storm system dropped feet of snow on South Dakota and northwest Nebraska.

Western South Dakota was hit the hardest, with some reports of snowfall as high as 30 inches near Hot Springs.

Blizzard-like conditions caused by heavy winds reduced visibility to zero and caused multiple accidents.
