A troubled Omaha bar, located where tourists can easily spot problems, is getting an unexpected second chance from top city officials.

Instead of putting the license for “4-1-5” in jeopardy, the Old Market tavern where police have been called to time and again the last few years, is being allowed to stay open as owners agree to do better and make one key business concession.

Having already made some security improvements the bar further agreed to some new closing times.

Police have been at the bar’s front door a dozen times in the last two years.

The last police report was October.

That coupled with the bar’s new closing time, 1:30 in the morning instead of 2, finds the city council agreeing to keep the bar open, but insisting a tighter legal leash going forward.
