PIERCE - It was a tale of two halves for Class C1 #4 Pierce on Friday.

After being held scoreless in the first half, the Blue Jays' offense found ways to finish off drives that they couldn't in the first half, beating Wayne 35-15.

Pierce's defense held serve throughout, holding Wayne without a first down until almost the halfway mark of the third quarter.

That allowed the Jays to find their rhythm on offense. Penalties and turnovers prevented them from finding the end zone until the second half when a Keenan Valverde touchdown opened the scoring.

Wayne's offense could never get going, due in no small part to being down multiple starters due to injury.
