SIDNEY (September 30, 2023) -- What is the connection between  Christianity and the historic United States? How do we know?

A program was held today at Nexgen Outfitters that addresses the country's history and its connection to the Bible.

"The program today is 'Biblical Citizenship and Modern America.' The lunch break version, which is a sliced and diced five-session about biblical citizenship. What does scripture say about citizenship, and what do we need to do to be good biblical citizens. So this is a short version. It's really easy to do in one day, which is what we're doing here," said Kolene Woodward, Patriot Academy.

Today's class is an abbreviated version of the full class.

"The regular class is eight weeks. Each class is about an hour and 15 minutes with all of the content. This is the shorter version. But it really helps us dive into what does it mean to be in biblical citizenship and how do we use that knowledge to turn things around in the United States," she said.

Woodward said the U.S. needs to return to the Founding Fathers' intent, including a Judeo-Christian ethic. She said the Judeo-Christian approach was the basis for all western civilization.

"We've kind of gotten away from that. So this course is to show people how to take that back, and how we can feel good about doing that as Christians. But actually God has a lot to say about how to be a biblical citizen," she said.

She said these programs often end with participants discovering what they were not taught in public school. Woodward said learning the U.S. history will not only make us proud, even with the mistakes, but it will give an appreciation for why returning to founding principles and documents is important.
