Omaha authorities investigate shooting that injured five people, killed one

OMAHA, Neb. -- Authorities in Omaha say they are investigating a shooting incident that injured five and killed one on Sunday.
The Omaha Police Homicide Unit said they are investigating the shooting that happened Sunday morning.
The shooting reportedly happened around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday near N 24th and Decatur Streets.
OPD officers said they found 16-year-old Lamarantae Swift, who was injured during the shooting.
Swift had been taken to Nebraska Medicine where he died.
Two other victims were taken to Nebraska Medicine by private vehicle, and three more were taken to a local medical center by private vehicle.
The fiver others injured were a 25-year-old, 31-year-old, 32-year-old, 33-year-old, and 34-year-old.
"The violent loss of a young person's life and the injuries to multiple people is intolerable for our community and causes deep sadness," said Chief Todd Schmaderer. "Additional police resources are being used to aggressively investigate this matter. Early information shows there was a large after hours gathering of people who were present when the gun violence occurred. We ask for any witnesses to come forward to assist with the investigation."
