With Speaker McCarthy ousted by Congressman Matt Gaetz and seven other hard, hard right Republicans, an unhappy Don Bacon wants something new.

Rep. Don Bacon, NE-2 (R): “Whoever we elect to be the next Speaker, within a month these same eight people will hold a gun to their head and say, ‘If you don’t vote our way, we’ll do another vacate the chair vote.’ So, there’s got to be some changes.”

But Jane Kleeb, the head of the Nebraska Democratic Party, says “Representative Don Bacon is responsible and part of the chaos,” adding “From Trump’s constant crimes to waging culture wars and taking the rights of women, they (Republicans) have forgotten how to govern.”

Not surprisingly Republican Senator Pete Ricketts blames the Democrats.

Sen. Pete Ricketts, NE (R): “Today I sent a letter to Majority Leader Chuck Schumer to keep the Senate in session Monday through Friday every week until we pass all 12 appropriations bills for the next fiscal year. We have to put in the work to ensure the next funding deadline is less chaotic than this one. It's not too much to ask for us to work Monday through Friday.

Joe Jordan, NCN: “Senator you noted in your comments the chaos that is taking place on Capitol Hill. Doesn’t that chaos make it really difficult for the Republicans to move forward legislatively and at the ballot box next November?”

Sen. Ricketts: “We can control what we can control as Republicans on the Senate side. But we do need help from the leader to be able to set the calendar so we can get this worked out.”

The next major deadline is November 17 and the possibility of a government shutdown.
