HASTINGS, Neb. – WR Reserve is seeking $43 million to upgrade their Hastings facility and create dozens of new jobs.

The company is a meat processing plant that produces 100% black angus beef in Hastings. It's a Kosher/Halal facility and is the only business in the United States to ship its beef internationally to Israel.

The city is proposing to receive a $1,010,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) grant from the Nebraska Department of Economic Development, which will be transferred to WR Reserve.

WR Reserve also plans on spending $43 million to add working capital, purchase new equipment, add up to 40 new jobs, and build an 11,000 square foot addition onto the current 82,000 square foot facility, increasing the plant size by 13%.

On Monday, the Hastings City Council unanimously passed the motion to approve the city applying for the $1,010,000 grant by an 8-0 vote.

With the vote passing, Mayor Corey Stutte can now sign the application and contract documents for the grant.
