KEARNEY, Neb. — The Nebraska-Kearney football team will head to the Omaha metro this spring to scrimmage a fellow Div. ll team.

UNK Head Coach Ryan Held announced on social media Wednesday morning that the Lopers will play Concordia-St. Paul (Min.) on Saturday, April 13. The scrimmage will kick off at 3:00 and be played at Lewis Central High School in Council Bluffs. The matchup is also listed on the UNK website.

The Lopers are entering the second year under Held and are coming off a 3-8 season. The Golden Bears are led by head coach Shannon Currier, who is entering his 13th season. CSP plays in the NSIC, a well-respected conference that includes Wayne State. The Golden Bears improved to 3-8 last season following a pair of one-win campaigns.

According to the UNK football website, the Lopers have never played CSP. The schedule listings, which date back to 2009, don’t show UNK having played a spring scrimmage against another team.

The Lopers will still have a regular spring game intrasquad scrimmage, which is set for Friday, April 19.

Held says there will be free admission to the scrimmage against CSP.
