From the looks of one his latest tweets Republican Congressman Don Bacon doesn't think much of his primary opponent, Dan Frei.

Bacon gearing up for the fall calling out his Democratic "opponent" Tony Vargas for voting to “keep biological males in women's sports.”

This was Vargas last week, opposing the so-called, ‘bathroom bill.’

State Sen. Tony Vargas. Omaha (D): “Trans-youth were feeling like they didn’t belong, like they’re not welcome, that people hate them.”

And he was just getting warmed up.

Sen. Vargas: “Not only do I see this as a framework for continuing to berate LGBTQ youth and trans-youth, but we’re also inherently making our school districts and our schools less of a welcoming place and more of putting a target on individuals’ backs.”

The bill, which along with prohibiting biological boys from playing on girls’ teams, also keeps biological boys out of girls’ bathrooms and locker rooms, finds Bacon making his support of the legislation personal.

Bacon noting, “My sister competed in the NCAA Final Four & was all-state in 3 sports. We honor her memory & we must protect women's sports.”

State Sen. Merv Riepe, Ralston (R): “All of the time I want to keep kindness in all of our voices.”

Of course, as we’ve reported the bill failed, in large part because two of Bacon’s fellow Republicans, State Senators Merv Riepe and Tom Brandt wouldn’t go along.

Bacon’s tweet makes no mention of them, but he appears ready to take his fight for the ‘bathroom bill’ all the way to November, of course that’s assuming he doesn’t lose next month’s GOP primary.
