OMAHA, Neb.- A children’s museum in Omaha is getting a new building.

Just over a month ago, Omaha’s Children’s Museum unveiled a new plan  to the public in collaboration with nonprofit Heritage Omaha and Mayor Jean Stothert.

The new building will be located at 8th and Douglas streets, along Omaha’s Heartland of America park at The RiverFront.

Community Engagement and Outreach Director Adriana Rodriguez said it will benefit the community.

“We will be able to serve more families in our community and also be able to provide additional programming, activities, new exhibits and so more opportunities  for our community partners to also provide trainings at our museum,” said Rodriguez.

Now the museum is asking the community to fill out a survey to get ideas for new exhibits and to better the programming.

In addition to the new museum, a new residential complex called “The Beam” is being built, along with a new parking garage to accommodate the growing development of downtown.

The Omaha Children’s Museum will continue to operate at its current location during construction of the new space, which is expected to be completed by 2027.
