HASTINGS, Neb. – The Hastings City Council will begin meeting at a new time starting with its upcoming meeting on Monday.

The change comes after a unanimous 8-0 vote from the council at its Feb. 10 meeting to move all future city council meeting and work session start times from 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Mayor Jay Beckby says the time switch will make meetings more convenient for the public to attend.

“I ran on this as a campaign promise that I wanted to make City Council meetings more accessible to people who got off work at 5,” said Beckby. “We came up with 6 o’clock.”

Hastings City Council meetings continue to be held at the Hastings Municipal Airport while the City Hall building remains under renovation.
