Potter woman wins $4,400 living room prize at Sidney Spring Expo
SIDNEY, Neb. – The 34th Annual Spring Expo in Sidney ended on a high note Sunday with one lucky visitor walking away with a $4,400 home makeover, courtesy of Sutton Home Gallery.
Kim Sonnie of Potter was announced as the grand prize winner, earning her choice between a 4-piece Whirlpool stainless steel kitchen suite or a 3-piece La-Z-Boy Iclean reclining living room set.
After a brief moment of suspense — the first name drawn was not present — Sonnie’s name was pulled during the second drawing. Under contest rules, participants had to be present to win.
Sonnie, who made her decision quickly, chose the La-Z-Boy living room set.
“My appliances are a little too new, so no point in taking those,” she said. “I'm surprised. I win every once in a while, but not that big. I'll take it.”
The two-day event, hosted by Flood Communications - Western Nebraska (parent company of 987 The Big Boy, Cheyenne County Country and 1043 KIMB), featured more than 35 vendors ranging from home repair and agriculture services to health care providers and local law enforcement. The prize options were on display throughout the weekend at the Cheyenne County Fairgrounds.
The Spring Expo has become a staple event in western Nebraska, bringing together businesses and the community each year for product showcases, networking and giveaways — all with free admission and local food on site.
