FAIRBURY, Neb -- Blue Valley Community Action is gearing up for a big day of giving on Thursday, May 29, as part of Community Action Month. Their  "Stuff the Bus" event will be rolling into every county they serve, collecting supplies to benefit a wide range of programs.

Donations will be accepted starting at 9 a.m. at sites in Beatrice, Crete, Seward, York, David City, Geneva, Hebron, Butler County, and Osceola. And yes — there’ll be a real bus, kicking off in York and ending in Fairbury, where Ol' Red 99-5 will broadcast live from 2 to 4 p.m.

Unlike traditional food drives, Stuff the Bus focuses on essential supplies for every corner of BVCA’s programs — from cleaning supplies to children’s clothes, diapers, and even new car seats.

"This is a good opportunity to let people know just the variety of different aspects of people's lives that Blue Valley Community Action can touch." — Ben Schwartz, BVCA

Top requested items include:

Windex, Clorox, paper towels, and bathroom cleaners
Diapers, pull-ups, wipes, and kids’ clothes
New car seats, bibs, Boppy pillows, and nursing covers

Donations will be accepted all day starting at 9 AM, and monetary donations are also welcome — either dropped off at any site or made online at bvca.net. A full list of requested items and who they benefit is pinned at the top of Blue Valley Community Action’s Facebook page and website.

Ben with BVCA summed it up: “It’s about meeting real needs and showing just how many ways Blue Valley can help our neighbors.”
