Sheriff’s Office makes final decision on Facebook posting

KIMBALL -- Based on community feedback, the Kimball County Sheriff’s Office will continue to post felony arrests on their Facebook Page.
The posts will continue to include the subject’s mugshot, but the option to comment on the posts will be turned off.
Sheriff David Hottell first created and posted a link to a survey on April 19 for community members to participate in. People were able to anonymously express if they would like to see felony arrests, if the posts should include the booking photos, and if they should have the ability to comment.
Hottell said the consensus from community members was that they want to continue to see felony arrests and booking photos, but people should not be allowed to comment.
He created the survey after receiving mixed comments from the public about whether the sheriff’s office should be posting the arrests they make or not.
