Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued for Scotts Bluff and Banner Counties

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. — May 14, 2025 — The National Weather Service in Cheyenne has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for central Scotts Bluff County and northeastern Banner County in the Nebraska Panhandle. The warning remains in effect until 5:45 p.m. MDT.
At 5:09 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was reported nearly stationary over the Scottsbluff Airport. Trained weather spotters confirmed golf ball-sized hail approximately one mile north of the airport, with wind gusts reaching 60 miles per hour.
The storm is expected to impact the Scottsbluff area and surrounding communities as it slowly drifts across the county. Forecasters warn of potential injuries to people and animals outdoors, as well as hail damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees is also possible.
Residents are advised to seek shelter immediately in an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building and stay away from windows.
