U.S. District Attorney reveals more about ICE raid, hasn’t issued formal charges yet

OMAHA, Neb. — The U.S. District Attorney for Nebraska is providing more insight into the origin of Tuesday’s immigration raid in Omaha.

U.S. Attorney Lesley Woods shared the information in a news release on Thursday morning. She said Homeland Security Investigations performed an audit of Glenn Valley Foods’ employee I-9 Forms and found a large number of suspected fraudulent identification documents or documents that did not authorize certain identified employees to legally work in the United States.

The audit also revealed that multiple identities of citizens were being fraudulently used by workers at that location, matching with numerous victim complaints.

Woods said HSI encountered 76 people in the country illegally during the raid. According to the release, HSI referred several criminal allegations to Woods’ office. Among the criminal allegations referred are allegations of fraudulent use of Social Security numbers, assaults on federal officers and damage to federal property, illegal reentry of previously deported aliens, and other criminal concerns.

Federal prosecutors have not made charging determinations yet because the investigation is still active.
