ALLIANCE, Neb. — A coordinated effort between the U.S. Marshals Service, Nebraska State Patrol and Alliance Police Department led to the arrest of a wanted fugitive in Alliance on Sunday evening.

According to Alliance Police Chief David Leavitt, 52-year-old Harley Salway was taken into custody without incident around 5:24 p.m. after being located through drone surveillance by U.S. Marshals. Salway had been on the run since late March and was wanted on multiple felony warrants.

Authorities say Salway was seen exiting a home on East 4th Street around 5 p.m. Officers from Alliance PD and the Nebraska State Patrol quickly responded and surrounded the residence. He was arrested shortly thereafter and booked into the Box Butte County Jail on charges of first-degree sexual assault, first-degree false imprisonment and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony. He is being held without bond.

Also arrested at the scene was 49-year-old Angela Cole, who law enforcement say was harboring Salway despite being questioned multiple times about his whereabouts. She is charged with conspiracy to commit a Class 2 felony and aiding the consummation of a felony. Her bond has been set at $10,000.

“The Alliance Police Department would like to thank the public for the many tips which ultimately led to the arrest of a dangerous fugitive,” Leavitt said in a statement. “We also thank the U.S. Marshals Service, Nebraska State Patrol and Box Butte County Sheriff’s Office for their collaboration in bringing this case to a close.”
