Leyton School Board holding special meeting regarding litigation on school track

DALTON -- The Cheyenne County School District No. 3 Board of Education is having a special meeting 6 p.m. Monday, June 2.
The meeting is to be held in the high school library.
The meeting will be held to discuss, consider and take action on how to proceed with the litigation on the Leyton track. The meeting will include a public comment session.
In the April Leyton School District newsletter, Superintendent Matt McLaughlin concerns have developed with the track.
"Our track is a fantastic addition to Leyton Public Schools, and we fully intend to use it for years to come," Leyton Public Schools Superintendent Matt McLaughlin said in the April newsletter. "However, as with any major construction project, issues have emerged that require our attention to ensure the long-term quality and safety of the facility."
Concerns include surface of the track; the track's design and construction; placement of the fence, grandstand and light poles.
"Due to these concerns, we have enlisted legal help to get answers and ensure that taxpayer dollars are being used responsibly," McLaughlin said in the newsletter.
