New tornado warning issued for southwestern Logan County

DENVER — The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for southwestern Logan County in northeastern Colorado as a severe thunderstorm with radar-indicated rotation tracks through the region.
At 7:23 p.m. MDT Monday, a storm capable of producing a tornado was located over Pawnee Pass, about 15 miles west of Sterling, moving east at 15 mph. The storm is also producing golf ball size hail.
The tornado warning is in effect until 7:45 p.m. MDT. Communities in the path include Pawnee Pass, Logan Corners and Willard.
The National Weather Service urges residents to take shelter in an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Mobile home residents and those outdoors are advised to seek more substantial shelter immediately and protect themselves from flying debris.
This is the second tornado warning issued for Logan County Monday evening as severe weather continues to sweep through northeastern Colorado.
